He rose to the pinnacle of wrestling, winning World Tag Team Titles in both the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) 1987 and 1988, and the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) 1989.  He and his partner were the first tag team to accomplish winning championships in both.  He also gained fame as a member of the original Four Horsemen with Ric Flair, Arn Arneson and Ole Anderson.  Touring the country with Baby Doll, Tully became the longest reigning NWA World Television Champion (1985, 1986 and 1987), and he also won and defended the NWA United States Heavyweight Championship in 1985.
